TEN-MAN Great Wakering Rovers were crushed 6-1 by a rampant AFC Sudbury outfit.

Dan Trenkel’s men were outclassed in the encounter and will be glad to see the back of Sudbury, who they have conceded 11 goals against in two matches this term.

Home captain Sam Clarke had the first effort, as he shot over under pressure from Lewis Sparrow, with Ollie Berquez firing wide soon after following a poor clearance by Wakering goalkeeper Adam Seal.

Kris Newby hit the crossbar before the hosts did eventually take the lead on 20 minutes.

Jordan Blackwell was the scorer, beating Seal after a fine chipped pass from Newby.

And it got worse for Wakering five minutes later when Sparrow was given his marching orders after a challenge on Blackwell in the box. James Baker converted the kick.

Wakering were struggling to contain the hosts and when it became 3-0 with 30 minutes on the clock – Clarke scoring after a shot from Ben Robinson – you feared the worst.

Blackwell scored his second and Sudbury’s fourth on the stroke of half-time, but it got worse into the second half.

The lively Berquez got his name on the score sheet when Seal couldn’t keep out his fierce drive.

Sudbury were dealt a blow when Clarke was sent off for a poor challenge on Tom Strickland and Rovers hit back, Jay Nash finding the net following a run and cross from Billy Johnson.

But the home side completed the scoring, with Josh Kerridge running and shooting beyond Seal as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes.
