More than three hundred people gathered at Chelmsford Cathedral to say goodbye to beloved "legend", Ashley Woolley.

Nearly every seat in the cathedral was filled and many more people stood at the back during the service to the 18-year-old, who died after being stabbed in Oaklands Park less than a week before Christmas.

Bagpipes were played outside the cathedral before Ashley was carried in to the song "Forever Young" by Alphaville.

A hymn, Jerusalem, was sung by the congregation followed by a reading of a poem, titled "The Dash".

Touching tributes to the teenager, reflecting on his love, talent for freerunning, kindness and enthusiasm for life, were read by his father Trevor, mother Maria and his brother Paul, followed by poignant speeches from two of Ashley's friends.

Paul spoke of his brother's kindness and how he was a "living legend" while his mother Maria told the congregation of his love for Bob Marley songs before an address by Revd. James Ridge.

After the service, Ashley was carried out of the cathedral surrounded by his friends and family to the sounds of Bob Marley's famous hit "Three Little Birds" before his family attended a private burial at Chelmsford Cemetery.
