Thurrock 1-1 Cheshunt

THURROCK’s stop-start form continued as they dropped points in their hunt for the play-offs.

Debutant Jordan Darko made his mark as he got on the mark on his first appearance for the club, only for Cheshunt to equalise with seven minutes remaining.

Darko was looking lively in the early stages, with a number of late runs into the box causing the visitors all sorts of problems.

Ross Wall curled an effort wide before neat interplay between Wall and Joel Nouble freed Brad Warner, but his effort only found the outside of the post.

Kweku Ansah shot over before before Fleet took the lead, when Nouble cut back for Darko to smash home.

Fleet were dominating the game but couldn’t add to their one goal lead and were made to pay when Cheshunt snatched a late equaliser.

A drilled effort was only parried by Andy Walker and Mitch Hahn swept home the loose ball.

Thurrock saw several late surges denied by the visitors and the game ended 1-1.

And manager Mark Stimson was full of praise for his team, who he felt deserved to win the game.

“Both Jordan Darko and Leslie Thompson performed well on their debuts with recent signing Kweku Ansah also impressing.

“Cheshunt defended very well and a number of good blocks prevented us from stealing the show. But we move on.”
