Chelmsford Amateur Boxing Club have had a busy start to their year.

Work will start on Phase Two of the premises refurbishment by Nathan Jenner and Paul Mercer after The Essex County Council agreed to fund the refurbishment via The Essex Community Initiatives Fund.

Club Treasurer Johnny Mouser said " This is a great piece of news to start the year ,the kitchen the hallway and meeting room will be completely overhauled complete with new boiler as well as up to date fire alarm sytem".

The boxers are busy training getting fighting fit for their open show at Marconi Club Beehive Lane on Saturday 7th February.

Club Matchmaker Graham Park said: "Our trainers Dave Hull and Dave Hubble are working the lads and ladies hard as we want to put on a great show, I have many clubs asking to come to our event as we are getting a good reputation of putting on well organised and well contested bouts, we will have most local clubs around Essex attending as well as Repton West Ham and clubs from Herts Kent and Hants."

Club Chairman Grant Riley also wanted the Chelmsford public to be aware of a Charity walk the day after our show on Sunday February 8 in memory of Bob Miller.

His brother Leslie is organising the event "Bob Miller's Charity Walk" from Brentwood to Chelmsford raising money for many of Bobs chosen Charities.Most of the Chelmsford boxers will be joining the walk around 3.30pm at Admirals Park then onto the Chelmsford Cathedral where the Mayor and Mayoress of Chelmsford will be there to greet all involved around 5pm with a small service in the cathedral afterwards.
