CONCORD Rangers are hoping to replicate their earlier success at St Albans City when they travel to Hertfordshire tomorrow.

The Beach Boys won 1-0 in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup in October at newly-promoted St Albans, to set up a tie with League Two side Mansfield Town in the First Round.

And manager Danny Cowley says his side have recovered from the disappointment of losing in the FA Trophy last weekend, and are confident of securing their third league win on the spin.

“We always head into games in a confident mood,” he said. “We are pretty much clear of injuries at the moment as well which makes a nice change. The only doubt is Joe Gardner, who is still struggling with a back problem.

“We did well against them in the FA Cup although in all honesty there was nothing between the sides that day. And we are under no illusion how difficult it will be once again.”

The Beach Boys sit 13th in the division, with games in hand on many of the sides around them but could climb into the top 10 with a win at St Albans.

Cowley is expected to hand a debut to loan-striker Alex Osborn, after he linked up with the club this week from Ebbsfleet United.

In the Ryman Premier Division, East Thurrock United face a test of their play-off credentials when they host Leiston.

Only two points separate the sides, with Rocks in superb form over recent weeks. Third in the form guide, they have scored eight goals in two matches and taken 13 points from the last 15 available.

John Coventry’s side sit in fifth ahead of the game, knowing a win could lift them level on points with fourth-placed Hendon.

Rocks will be looking to Sam Higgins for goals once again, having been on the score sheet 11 times in the last 10 games.

Canvey Island can do Rocks a favour when they play Hendon, but will be focussed on securing the points as they slip closer to the relegation places. Only three points from the drop zone, Danny Heale’s men have taken only six points from the last 30 on offer, and following last weekend’s defeat against Maidstone United, things do not get any easier.

Heale could be without on-loan West Ham star Taylor Tombides, as well as Mike Jones, Joe Carter, Jay Curran and Charlie Barlow, with Ishamil Kamara and Rio Bryan-Edwards out with long-term injur-ies. Harrison Chatting is also suspended.

lHammers’ midfielder Ben Marlow, who joined in September, has left Canvey to link up with Conference South side Bishop’s Stortford in another loan deal.
