HULLBRIDGE Sports are gunning to become history makers when they visit Flackwell Heath tomorrow.

Sports return to Vase action having produced two resilient displays against AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Great Yarmouth Town to set up the tie.

And they now hope to make the fifth round of the competition for the first time in their history, albeit against a side in formidable form.

In the Hellenic Premier Division, third-placed Flackwell Heath have won 16 of their 22 games and are in the middle of a superb run, which has seen them win 16 of the last 18 games, scoring 66 goals in the process.

Beaten by Sholing at this stage last season, Sports will be able to call upon goalkeeper Bobby Mason, who has missed the last three games through suspension after being dismissed in the third round of the Vase.

And manager Mark Bliss has backed his side to progress in the tournament having beaten Enfield 1893 in the week.

“The togetherness is tremendous and has been all season and you can genuinely say that the Hullbridge boys are all pulling in the right direction.”

Striker Luke Hornsley is cup tied, while fellow forward Kurtis Clarke is a doubt with a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Basildon United travel to Greenhouse London in the Essex Senior League in a bid for their first win of the calendar year.

And manager Craig Gillam will be confident of picking up a result against the side second bottom in the division.

He has a fully-fit squad to choose from and, although a bout of flu is sweeping the camp, Gillam is confident of having a strong squad at his disposal.

Bowers & Pitsea face a tough test of their credentials when they visit FC Romania.

The home side sit third but, although they have an 11 point advantage over Bowers, Rob Small’s men have five games in hand on them.

18th placed Southend Manor are also away from home at London Bari.

Manor will be looking to stop the rot of nine straight defeats, at the side only five places above them, in a bid to turn their season around.
