Students are celebrating after receiving offers to study at top universities.

New Hall School, in Chelmsford, achieved a 100 per cent success rate for its Year 13 Cambridge candidates this year.

New Hall’s Deputy Head Girl, Alice Baxter, and Deputy Head Boy, Tahir Khan, are among the students whose Oxbridge applications have been successful this year.

Alice told Dr Shaw, New Hall School’s Oxbridge Coordinator, that the day she received her offer was the happiest of her life.

Alice has been offered a place at Regent’s Park College, Oxford to study Classics and Tahir has been offered a place at Robinson College, Cambridge to study Medicine.

Lucy Ashfield and Alex Harker have also secured offers from Cambridge to study Classics and History respectively.

Given the exceptionally strong competition for Oxbridge places, these are outstanding achievements. Katherine Jeffrey, Principal at New Hall School said “We are extremely proud of Alice, Tahir, Lucy and Alex and congratulate them on this well-deserved success.

"At New Hall, we pride ourselves on our academic achievements and the success of our Oxbridge programme which includes interview preparation sessions, Oxbridge guest lecturers and opportunities to visit both universities.

“We are now waiting for all of our students’ university offers to come through and we look forward to celebrating their achievements as well.”
