IT took five perfect penalties for Concord Rangers to book their quarter-final berth in the Essex Senior Cup against Grays Athletic.

Rangers had taken a first-half lead after a strike from Lewis Taaffe but Joao Carlos struck as the clock ticked onto 90 minutes.

The game went straight to penalties and converted kicks from Danny Glozier, Gary Ogilvie, Alex Woodyard, Steve Cawley and Tony Stokes ensured the team's progress.

And a Josh Vickers save from the usually reliable Freddie Ladapo saw the Beach Boys win 5-4.

The draw for the next round of the competition takes place at 5:30pm tonight.
