HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of Chelmsford to mark Remembrance Day and remember fallen heroes.
The war memorial in Duke Street was the centre of attention on Sunday, as it is been every year, with poppy wreaths being laid by dignitaries from the area, including Essex Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh.
This year’s memorial coincided with the 100th anniversary of the First World War, and the streets fell silent as groups marched towards the memorial statue outside the Civic Centre.
At the service were Chelmsford MP Simon Burns, the city’s mayor, councillor Bob Villa, and the Rev Nicholas Henshall.
