Billericay Town 1–1 Peacehaven & Telscombe

Ryman Premier

From New Lodge

AN injury time equaliser from Peacehaven & Telscombe stopped Billericay Town recording an overdue win at New Lodge.

Town looked set for the three points after they took an early lead through Cyrus Mahler, but they were caught out as the clock ticked into injury time and Joe Gatting squeezed home an equaliser.

Craig Edwards handed a home debut to Afolabi Obafemi and he impressed up the top of the pitch, but it was midfielder Mahler who headed the hosts into an early advantage.

A looped cross found the Swiss and his header looped over Antony Di Bernado into the net.

The speedy Roman Michael-Percil was causing problems and he came within a whisker of doubling the advantage only for his effort to be cleared from the goal line.

Ex-Hullbridge Sports striker Liam Nash looked busy when he came on for Town, causing the visiting defence a number of problems but he couldn’t force that crucial second goal and that came to the hosts cost.

Gatting hitting home a rebound from close range after his initial effort had been bravely blocked.
