ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE: Basildon United have added four new players as they bid to turn around their season.

Midfielder Tom Cocklin (ex-Bowers & Pitsea), defenders Terry Griffiths (former Southend Manor) and Dale Gladen and ex-Thurrock prospect Ryan Jenkins have been signed by Bees boss Craig Gillam, as he guns for a win this weekend.

The Bees have taken only two points from their last six league games but host bottom-of-the-table Greenhouse London tomorrow, knowing a win would lift them to mid-table.

Gillam said captain Taylor Sinfield may be unavailable but he was “confident of taking all three points” against the side propping up the division.

Basildon’s midweek game against Eton Manor was postponed due to bad weather but this game is expected to go ahead.

Elsewhere, fourth-placed Hullbridge Sports are bidding to bounce back from defeat to Haringey Borough at Tower Hamlets.

Manager Mark Bliss said his Sports boys felt they “gifted Haringey the victory”.

“We feel we should have done better and we are disappointed,” he said. “But this just shows how far we have come.”

Tower Hamlets currently sit ninth in the table, but have two games in hand.

Hullbridge are hoping to have centre-half Reece Brandon back from injury, and Kurtis Clarke continues his journey to full fitness.

Bowers & Pitsea host FC Romania in what is expected to be a hotly contested battle.

Bowers, 6th, and Romania, 3rd, have started the campaign well but Rob Small is without several key men for the clash.

Ross Adams and Julian Simon-Parson are suspended, while Ashley Wackers-Kyriacou is a serious doubt. Garron Leatherbarrow will deputise for the absent Sean Hinton in goal.

Southend Manor will be hoping to follow up an impressive win at Newham with success at home against London Bari.

The two are separated by only a point in the standings but Wayne Seal is confident of another win.
