POP star Pixie Lott was all-singing and all-dancing as she attended the open day of a Chelmsford theatre school being set up by her family.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, who grew up in Brentwood, sang three of her hits and a cover of Avicii’s Wake Me Up at the Boswells School in Springfield on Sunday after meeting dozens of youngsters keen to follow in her footsteps by attending the Pixie Lott Italia Conti associate school.

There were queues outside before the doors had even opened at 10am.

But Pixie, 23, spent the whole day meeting parents and children as they signed up for the school which opens in January.

The Mama Do singer, who attended Italia Conti schools as a youngster, told the Weekly News: “This is where I grew up and to have my own Italia Conti, with my family, in Essex – because it hasn’t got one – is really amazing.

“There’s a lot of talent in Essex and it makes sense to have a school here. It would be brilliant if we find some superstars.”

And the star, who has a hectic schedule after recently releasing an album and appearing on Strictly, said she loves coming home to see her family in Brentwood. She added: “I come back to Essex quite a lot. I love it here and love coming home.”

Pixie’s sister, Charlie-Ann, 26, who will be principal at the school, said: “I didn’t expect today to go so well. The morning was busier than the afternoon, but overall I was very pleased.”

PIXIE: I'M LOVING LIFE ON STRICTLY

PIXIE said she is loving life on hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

The popstar and her dance partner Trent Whiddon put in another brilliant performance on Saturday, quickstepping to Be Our Guest from Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, scoring 43 out of 50 and impressing guest judge Donny Osmond.

Pixie said: “It’s really fun. It reminds me of stage school – it’s very showbiz with loads of costumes and choreographed numbers. I’m just so used to doing my own shows, just me and a guitarist or a band.”

But Pixie admitted she is struggling to make time for everything: “It’s tough juggling it all, I need to start saying no to bits and pieces.”
