CHELMSFORD food bank will open its new home today (Thursday) at the Trinity Methodist Church.
The church in Rainsford Road will now be the base instead of the Oasis Church, in Wharf Road, which will be turned into 52 flats.
The move comes as volunteers at the food bank appealed for more donations as they see more and more people using the service.
The Oasis church has been home to the food bank since it opened in October 2012, after the the church took temporary accomodation there following the closure of the once popular Waterfront Restaurant.
Opening times at the new food bank are 10am to 12.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Other food banks in the city include St Andrews Church, the North Avenue United Reformed Church and Bell Street Hall For more information go to www.chelmsford.foodbank.org.uk Or you can call 01245 790769.
