A MAN took part in a charity walk from London to Chelmsford in memory of his wife.
Danielle Dixon was diagnosed with a rare cancer called goblet cell carcinoid in March 2011 and passed away in September 2013, at the age of 25.
Following her death, her husband, Wayne Dixon, from Chelmsford, started a Facebook page called Cure Goblet Cell Carcinoid Cancer and has been fundraising to raise awareness of the illness.
Mr Dixon said: “In the past we have had donations from Manchester United, Hull City FC and Manchester City, as well as England goalkeeper Joe Hart. We raised £325 at the last event, which has taken our total to more than £5,000.”
On Saturday, Mr Dixon walked with friends from London Liverpool Street to Chelmsford to raise cash and awareness and a live music event was held three weeks ago.
Money will be donated to the Royal Free Hospital and NET Patient Foundation which specialise in finding a cure.
