TOWNFIELD Street car park will reopen on Monday ahead of schedule.
The multi-storey has been closed since mid-July for essential maintenance work, including new protective paint to its walls and ceilings, new bay markings and stairwell decoration.
Councillor Ian Grundy, in charge of safer communities, said: “We are very pleased with the work that has been done at the car park and to complete the work and open it up to the public ahead of schedule is a good achievement.
“The work that has now been completed will help to preserve and extend the life of the car park. Chelmsford Council would like to thank everyone for their patience during this time and we are confident that the car park is now a much improved environment for drivers."
Additional work will be carried out at the car park but to allow minimal disruption to users the works will be carried out during out of operational hours.
