A CHELMSFORD woman has told of her horror when she found out an explicit video of her and her ex-boyfriend had been leaked online.

Hazel Higgleton, 24, was sent links on social media of a girl involved in a sex act. When she realised the girl was her, she said she felt sick.

Speaking to a national newspaper, Hazel said: "I shut the computer straight down. I thought I was going to be sick.

"I felt so vulnerable and violated.

I just thought, ‘What have I done to deserve this?’ It was like I’d been raped. Here were these incredibly explicit videos of me online without my consent."

The video was circulated a few weeks after she ended a relationship.

The video is another case of revenge porn, which the police have said they can do nothing about.

Hazel said: "It’s shocking – revenge porn is a form of abuse.

"How is this not a crime? It destroys lives."

The House of Lords recently rejected calls to create a new criminal offence of revenge porn because it was already covered by existing obscenity and harassment laws.

But they said clearer guidance was needed to help police and prosecutors secure convictions.
