A WOMAN has died after she fell ill on a train travelling through Chelmsford earlier today.
The air ambulance and other emergency services were called to Chelmsford station at about 1.30pm, after the 12pm Norwich to Liverpool Street service was forced to stop.
The air ambulance landed next to Parkway, with ambulances and police cars parked up outside the station.
The woman died at the scene An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: "We were called at 1.30pm to Chelmsford railway station after reports that a woman had been taken ill on a train.
"The ambulance service dispatched several resources to the scene including Hertfordshire Air Ambulance.
"Sadly despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene."
The identity of the woman is not yet known.
