Woman from Chelmsford killed in a head-on crash near Writtle

A WOMAN from Chelmsford has died following a two-car head-on crash on the A414 near Writtle.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 4.10pm today.

The vehicles involved were an orange Kia Picanto and a blue Ford Focus.

Paramedics couldn't save the driver of the Kia, a woman in her late 70s from the Chelmsford.

The woman in the Focus has been taken to Royal London Hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be serious.

The road is likely to remain closed until 9pm.
