Plastic surgeons all over the world will be able to watch a live breast augmentation from Chelmsford over the internet as part of an educational event this weekend.

Surgeons at varying stages of their career development in more than 70 countries will be able to watch a demonstration of live surgery by an expert surgeon, broadcast from The Chelmsford Private Day Surgery Hospital this Saturday.

The master class will be divided into two parts, a series of presentations on key topics and controversies of breast augmentation surgery, followed by live surgery of two clinical cases, one of primary augmentation and the other of a mastopexy – a procedure which raises sagging breasts.

The procedures will be carried out by Professor James Frame, who works at the hospital and leads the MSc in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University, Garrick Georgeu and Cara Connolly.

It is estimated that more than 10,000 breast augmentations are carried out in the UK every year. Worldwide, more than 10 million have been carried out so far.

Professor Frame said: “The purpose of the meeting is to provide up to date information on breast implant safety and to demonstrate a safe surgical technique for insertion of polyurethane breast implants, in real patients. “
