ONE of the country’s favourite song writers is set to play an intimate show in Chelmsford next week.

Chas Hodges, one half of legendary duo Chas and Dave, will perform an array of classics with his band Matchroom Mob, at the Chelmsford Social Club in aid of Cystic Fibrosis.

Chas is famously known for hits such as Getcha, Ain’t No Pleasing You and Rabbit, but its lesser known that he had significant chart success with the Mob in 1981 with song Snooker Loopy.

As an added bonus, originally Mob members and snooker legends Willie Thorne and Dennis Taylor will join Chas on stage to perform the classic.

Willie and Dennis will collectively host the night and provide the humour to get everyone in the spirit for a proper cockney knees up.

They’ll both also be challenging any punters on the green baize before the show. Gig goers should turn up before 7.30pm to be in with a chance of taking on one of the legends.

Supprt bands on the night will be Back To Square One and Midlife Crisis.

Tickets for the show on Saturday, July 5, start at £27.50 and are from www.essex-live.co.uk The night is a standing event, with a few unreserved seats available.
