CHELMSFORD Community Radio Station became the 300th member of the Chelmsford Star Co-operatives Community Support Card Scheme.
The station was started in early January and operates 70 hours a week by volunteers from the Moulsham Mill. It champion’s the community and encourages many to become resident DJ’s.
They currently broadcast through the web and with over 1,800 listeners; they plan to apply for a FM licence.
The station was presented their card by Chelmsford MP Simon Burns to mark the beginning of Co-op fortnight.
Members are able to give out the card to friends and members of the group to use in Chelmsford Star Co-op stores. Each swipe gives points to the group which can then be redeemed as cash by the group.
Hal MacLean, director at the station said: “We are delighted to join this great fund raising initiative by our local co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star.
“Not only will it help us raise funds but it will be the start of a great partnership between the two parties to develop our support in the community strategies.”
