A DJ has helped to get late comedian Rik Mayall’s forgotten World Cup anthem into the top 10 this week – four years after it was originally released.

Jon Morter, 40, worked on Rik’s video for Noble England, which features quotes from Shakespeare over a football chant, when it was released for the 2010 World Cup. After a Facebook campaign with 20,000-plus likes, it came in at number seven in Sunday’s chart.

Jon, from South Woodham Ferrers, said: “When we were filming the video, we rode a golf cart around Leeds Castle with Rik dressed up as King Henry V, waving at people and putting on a regal voice.

"When we sadly lost Rik, a lot of people were getting in touch saying ‘didn’t you work with him?’ and I said let’s do something to commemorate it.”

Jon also led the campaign to get Rage Against the Machine to beat X Factor’s Joe McElderry to the 2009 Christmas Number 1 slot and helped boost the Justice Collective’s Hillsborough charity single
