WORK starts tomorrow on a £1 million scheme to reduce congestion on the A12.

The slip road leading off the northbound A12 at Junction 19, Boreham Interchange, is to be lengthened by 100 meters to improve traffic flow during peak times.

Short localised delays are expected on the road during the period of work, taking place from 8pm-6am, between Junction 18, A12/A414 Sandon Interchange, and Junction 20a, Hatfield Peverel.

The scheme is part of a long term project that will include new homes, a business park and transport improvements.

County Councillor Rodney Bass, in charge of highways and transportation, said: “The upgraded slip road will improve the lives and journeys of thousands of residents every year. It is also a welcome investment in the future for the local area.”
