A MAN was stabbed in the leg and had his mobile phone stolen in an attack on a Chelmsford street.
The attack happened on Friday, May 30, between 1.30-2.30am, on Meadgate Avenue, opposite the footpath leading up past the allotments and Royal British Legion to Chelwater and Baddow Road.
This is the same route a male suspect appeared from and is thought to have fled to.
The 22-year-old victim was not immediately aware of the injury and went to a friend's house before an ambulance was called.
Police are asking the public to contact them if they find or have found an old-style Nokia mobile phone in the area, following an unsuccessful search and house to house enquires.
The suspect is described as over six-foot tall, medium build, wearing dark clothing, a hooded top and with a local accent.
Dc Ray Hull, who is investigating, can be contacted at Chelmsford CID on 101 or people can give information via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
