UKIP has won the EU election vote in Chelmsford, polling 36.8 per cent of the borough's vote.
The Conservative Party came second with 31.4 per cent of the vote.
The Labour Party came third, the Liberal Democrats fourth and the Green Party came fifth in Thursday's poll.
Ukip also came out on top in the Eastern region as a whole, taking 35 per cent of the vote.
The Conservatives took 28 per cent, Labour 17 per cent and the Green Party eight per cent.
This means that the Eastern region - which includes Chelmsford - will be represented in the European Parliament by three Ukip members, three Conservative members and one Labour member.
