CHELMSFORD is one of the most depressing places to live in the UK according a survey by estate agent Right Move.

The city ranked 70th of out 111 towns and cities after nearly 50,000 people were asked how happy they feel about where they live in across 12 different categories, which included value, wellbeing and safety.

Harrogate in Yorkshire came out on top following the survey. Inverness in the Scottish highlands and Taunton in Devon made up the top three.

Harrow, South East London and West London placed in the bottom three.

Elsewhere in Essex, Southend fared even worse ranking in 94th place, and Colchester a slightly more respectable 50th.
