THE Chelmsford Comedian of the Year competition returns to The Bassment on Thursday, May 22.
Sixteen contestants from Chelmsford and the surrounding areas will have just five minutes to take to the stage at the Wells Street venue and wow the judges and audience in their bid to win the coveted trophy, a paid spot at a top local comedy club, and a £100 cash prize.
Even better, money raised on the night will go towards the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
Contestants don’t need any prior experience, just five minutes of hilarious material, a few friends to cheer them on, and an Essex postcode.
Entry For the competition takes just a few minutes is open now via www.comedyshowcase.co.uk.
Last year’s winner, Scottish pun-slinger Leo Kearse has since gone on to big things. After a hugely successful Edinburgh Festival, Leo has since taken his solo show around the world as well as making a huge impression on the UK circuit.
