THE Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Trevor Miller, presented a cheque for £21,000 to The J’s Hospice as one of his final acts in the role.

In a reception at the Civic Centre on Tuesday afternoon, representatives from the charity – the Mayor’s chosen charity for the past year, were delighted to receive the donation.

During the presentation, Councillor Miller said: “It does not seem possible that my year as Mayor is almost over, although I have completed more than 300 engagements during my term of office.

“It has been a great honour to be Mayor of Chelmsford and to represent so many thousands of residents.

“The Mayoress and I wish to thank all those who have helped us during the year. As our term ends, we take away some wonderful memories and wish the next Mayor an equally enjoyable year.”

Councillor Miller's tenure as Mayor will come to an end during Wednesday night’s full council meeting.
