A schoolgirl was hurt in a hit-and-run at 10.30am on Sunday. It happened near the junction with Colam Street, in Church Street, Little Baddow.

The girl, 14, from Hockley, was among a group of pupils taking part in a school trip.

The white van’s wing mirror hit her on the back of the head, knocking her to the ground.

She was taken to Broomfield Hospital and allowed home later that day.

Witnesses call PC Andy Sumner on 101.
