OWNERS of three bikes believed to have been stolen from Chelmsford city centre are being searched for.

Police arrested two 17-year-olds from Chelmsford at about 2.15am on Thursday April 10 on suspicion of the theft of two bikes.

A third person evaded the scene but the bike he had was retrieved by officers.

The arrested pair were questioned at Chelmsford police station before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers looking into the case are now trying to trace the owners of the bicycles and are inviting anyone who recognises them to arrange a viewing.

Pc Niki Golling said: “At the moment we have not traced the owners of these three bikes so we would very much like to hear from anyone who recognises them and believes they are theirs.

“I will need to see some proof of ownership for the bikes such as knowledge of the serial numbers.”

Anyone who believes one of the bikes is there’s or who has information about the incident should call Pc Golling on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
