VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help clean the River Chelmer on Saturday April 26.
Chelmsford Council has organised a spring cleaning event starting outside the Essex Records Office in Wharf Road and meandering up to the Chelmer Valley Local Nature Reserve between 9am and 1pm.
Work carried out on the day includes clearing the riverbanks of rubbish and general tidying up of the river and surrounding areas.
Fresh refreshments are on offer to anyone who volunteers who are also advised to wear suitable clothing which they do not mind getting dirty plus sturdy shoes.
People of all ages are welcome to help out although anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
