A FIVE week-long inquest will take place later this year looking into the death a Chelmsford mother killed by her ex-lover.
Coroner for Essex Caroline Beasley-Murray formally set up the hearing which will start on September 15 which will look at the build-up to Maria Stubbings’ murder in December 2008.
The 50-year-old was strangled to death with a dog lead by ex-boyfriend Marc Chilvers who had been jailed in Germany for 15 years after murdering another lover of his.
Ms Stubbings was unaware of this fact though and two Independent Police Complaints Commission reports have slammed Essex Police for not doing more to protect her.
Chilvers was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2009 but relatives of Stubbings have been calling for an inquest, with their request recently granted by the coroner's court.
