INDIE rockers Razorlight have been confirmed as the first headliners for this year’s Brownstock Festival.

The band, headed by frontman and guitarist Johnny Borrell, will top the bill on the Sunday night with organisers saying an even bigger name is set for the previous evening.

Razorlight will join The Feeling, DJ EZ, Jack Beats, P Money, Doorly, Goldie Lookin' Chain and Nothing But Thieves in the three-day event at Morris Farm in Lower Burnham Road, Stow Maries.

The line-up, which was released on Wednesday night, has been announced earlier than ever before due to public demand.

Festival director Adam Brown, 29, whose family have fun the festival on their farm since 2005, is expecting 6,000 visitors over the weekend of Friday, August 29, to Sunday, September 1.

He said: “Frustratingly we have still got other big names waiting to be confirmed but we are up against the big festivals as we are trying to book the same acts that they are trying to book.

“We are down the pecking order in terms of booking these big acts so it can be harder for us.

“We have got lots more acts to come and hopefully they will be confirmed in the very near future.”

Mr Brown, who has helped turn the first event with a 100-strong crowd into one of the most anticipated events in the festival calendar, said there would be a birthday party theme this year.

This will include giant musical chairs along with another stage is also likely to be thrown into the mix.

He said: “Preparations are going really well and everybody seems to be getting into the 10th birthday theme.

“I definitely didn’t think this would be going a decade later.

“It was never supposed to be a business.

“We used to joke about having the likes of Razorlight so now it is a bit surreal.”

The family are even hoping to invite back bands who played in the first ever festival.
