AN END of an era will take place tomorrow when drinks stop moving down the production line at the Britvic factory in Widford.

Following plans announced last year by the soft drinks giant in a money saving project, it has been revealed to the Weekly News the 150 year history of drinks such as Tango and J2O being made in Chelmsford will end on Friday.

Around 230 people are set to lose their jobs through the closure.

A company spokeswoman said: "While we are sad to be leaving Chelmsford, where the business started, the closure is happening to make our factory network more efficient and competitive and it will help protect the long-term future of our company."

While production lines will stop, the site's technical centre will remain open until May.
