Man accused of sexual assault set for trial
A MAN accused of touching a woman’s breasts and trying to unclothe her is set to face trial.
Steven Thorpe, 48, of Longfields, Witham, entered no plea to a sexual assault charge during a brief hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday March 5.
On Janaury 29 Thorpe is alleged to have touched the breasts of a woman at her home in Broomfield.
Prosecuting lawyer Grace Court said the defendant had been attempting to grab the victim’s breasts and was trying to strip her dressing gown and onesie off.
Thorpe was given bail with conditions to not contact the victim or go near her home and he will next appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 27.
