A YEAR-LONG community order was given to a teenager after more than 45 grams of cannabis was found in his home.
Thomas Barrett, 18, of Windsor Way, Chelmsford, pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court to possession of the class B drug after police raided his house on November 19.
Officers found a total of 45.23 grams of cannabis split between Barrett’s and his mother’s bedrooms.
His lawyer Peter Butterfield said his client admitted he was a regular smoker of the drug and there was no intention the cannabis would be sold to anyone else.
Barrett was given a 12 month community order with 40 hours unpaid work and a condition to visit the Chelmsford Attendance Centre for 24 hours split into 12 two hour sessions.
He was also handed a bill of £85 for legal costs and forced to pay a victims surcharge of £60.
