STUDENTS in Chelmsford leaving school with no high standard GCSEs has dropped by ten per cent in four years.
Figures released by the Department for Education show just 4.8 per cent of pupils did not achieve a single GCSE grade between A* and C in 2013.
This statistic has decreased from 15.2 per cent back in 2010.
Praise has been heaped on local schools by Chelmsford MP Simon Burns who retrieved the figures from Secretary of State for Education David Laws.
Mr Burns, Conservative, said: “Chelmsford has always been fortunate in the quality of its education at both primary and secondary level.
“This is no mean achievement and is a reflection of the dedication of the teaching staff and the endeavours of pupils at our secondary schools in Chelmsford.”
