TWO men legged it from the scene of an attempted burglary after being spotted by the homeowner.
At about 12.45pm on Wednesday February 12, the duo tried to force their way into the house on Writtle Road, near the junction of Waterhouse Street, Chelmsford.
However the pair ran off when the owner appeared inside the property.
Investigating officer Dc David Moore, said: "The female resident heard the doorbell ring, but didn’t answer the front door.
"She then heard her side-gate open, prompting her to walk to her lounge which is at the rear of the house.
"It was there she saw two men trying to force their way inside, but the sight of her forced both men to take to the roof where they then ran along the top of the house towards the front, jumped down and were then seen running towards Chelmsford Cemetery.”
The men are both described as white, aged in their 20s – early 30s, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build and wearing long fawn-coloured duffle coats with hoods up.
Anyone with information about the incident should call detectives at Chelmsford police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
