A LAST minute dash to the London Marathon start line has been made by a man from Broomfield.

Tim Fosh, 40, of Mill Lane, has entered the race at short notice after filling a charity space for children’s charity Rainbow Trust which another runner had dropped out of.

When asked by a colleague of his who used to work for the charity if he would take up the spot, Mr Fosh admitted the prospect was a bit daunting but it was too exciting to refuse.

Mr Fosh said: “It took me a couple of days to decide whether to take the place.

“Firstly, 26 miles is a long way and I'd only ever run at most six miles before and secondly I have committed to raise £2,120 for the charity as 95 per cent of their funding is achieved through fundraising events.

“But it's quite hard to get a London marathon place so when this opportunity came up I thought it would be a great thing to do and something to tell the grandchildren when I get older.”
