A ROAD crossing for horses and bridleway will not be created as part of plans to build a new riding centre complex on an old pub site in Rettendon.

Chelmsford Council’s Planning Committee agreed to scrap the ideas, set last April, as part of the renovation planned for the Wheatsheaf pub on Main Road. It will be turned into an equestrian centre, shops and restaurant.

Originally the property’s owners had been asked to provide a road crossing for horses, known as a pegasus crossing, and new bridleway link.

However, applicant David Bishop told council planners he had not be able to secure enough land outside the old pub’s boundary for either of these to happen.
