A 12-YEAR-OLD girl who has swam the English Channel has been given an award for her charity fundraising.
Charley Spriggs was given the Active Campaigner gong through the Diana Awards, named in memory of Princess Diana.
Last year the New Hall School student from Chelmsford led a six-person relay which swam across the sea between England and France.
The challenge was done by Miss Spriggs just days after her 12th birthday and she helped raise £15,500 for the Papworth Hospital in Cambridge who treated her grandfather during his battle with lung cancer.
