RUMOURS have surfaced speculating pop superstar Justin Timberlake will headline V Festival this year.

A post on website efestivals.co.uk which successfully predicted Beyonce would be the star attraction to Hylands Park in 2013 has said the former N Sync singer will get top billing this time round.

The festival which is split between the venue in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Staffordshire will take place on August 16 and 17.

The website’s post says: “We believe that the American singer-songwriter, who returned from a eight-year hiatus last year and headlined London's Wireless, has been booked to close one of the nights of the twin festival.”

Since 2005 Timberlake has concentrated more on his acting career.

He ended his hiatus from the music industry 11 months ago when he released his 20/20 Experience album.

During the 33-year-old’s solo career he has had four number ones in the UK and has sold almost 20 million albums worldwide.

Organisers of the festival refused to confirm whether Timberlake was one of the headliners this year.

The sort of thing we could expect to see in Chelmsford this summer: Justin Timberlake performing What Goes Around at Rock in Rio last year.

A spokeswoman said: “The line-up for this year's Virgin Media V Festival is not yet confirmed.

“We do not have a confirmed date yet when the line-up announcement will be made, but it will be in the coming weeks.”

On Thursday, January 30, Timberlake was named as the third most global recording artists by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.

British boyband One Direction came first in the poll ahead of US rapper Eminem.
