A 17-YEAR-OLD boy was rushed to hospital on Sunday to be treated for head injuries after a crash in central Chelmsford.
At about 1.45pm the red mini moto motorbike being riden by the teenager collided with a black Skoda Superb on New London Road at the junction of Anchor Street.
Police had to close the section of road off until 5pm while investigations were carried out and to allow the air ambulance to take the rider to Queen's Hospital in Romford.
At first it was thought the boy's injuries were "life threatening", but an update since then has indicated they are no longer believed to be as bad although he remains in hospital.
An appeal for witnesses has been put out by investigating officers at Essex Police over the incident.
Anyone with information should contact Pc Rob Andrews at the Chelmsford road policing unit on 101.
