WORK has started on a new £13.5million HQ in central Chelmsford.
Insurance firm Amlin is moving from their two offices in Parkway to a new five-storey premises in Victoria Road.
The building will cover 65,000 sq ft and replace three disused offices blocks - The Courtyard, Caxton House, and St Mary's House.
These have already been demolished by the building firm ISG who said they are very excited and proud to have been awarded the works contract.
Alan McCarthy-Wyper, managing director of ISG, said: “This important regional development sees ISG support Amlin’s on-going commitment to Chelmsford with a major new building.”
Inside the new office will be a number of glazed meeting rooms with power being provided through solar panels on the roof.
Materials from the demolition of the three former buildings at the site will be re-used for the new office.
