THREE Chelmsfordians have been named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.

Roy Boreham, 82, of Woodville Farm, Pleshey, will receive an MBE for services to young farmers after helping with the Essex Federation of Young Farmers Clubs for the last 35 years.

Civil servant Jane Humphreys will pick up an OBE for services to UK mobile communications after her work as head of Spectrum Policy at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Thriftwood Special School headteacher Sally Davies has been awarded an OBE for services to special needs education.

Just before the New Year’s list was unveiled, Chelmsford City’s Ladies and Girls Football Club and the Essex County Girls’ Football League founder Dawn Barnard picked up her MBE.

This had been awarded to her in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her services to Women’s and Girls’ football.
