YOUNG Essex batter Jaik Mickleburgh has topped off a memorable year by signing a one year extension to his contract at the Ford County Ground.
The 23-year-old who scored 829 runs in the County Championship last season has agreed terms which will see him stay at Essex CCC until the end of 2015.
With a high score of 243 against Leicestershire, Mickleburgh became a key member of the Eagle's batting line-up earning a county cap in the process and said he is delighted to have lengthened his contract.
Mickleburgh said: "It was a huge honour to be capped by the Club last season and I will continue to work hard to bring trophies to Essex."
Head coach Paul Grayson added: "I am delighted that Jaik has signed a contract extension with the Club.
"This is especially after the great season he had last year, which was capped off with a string off impressive performances such as his superb double century against Leicestershire."
