AN ENGINEERING firm based in Springfield is one of three chosen to carry out a £146million undersea cabling project in the Scottish Highlands.
Global Marine Systems, whose office is in Winsford Way, were selected by BT for a £26.9m to help complete the plans to bring high-speed broadband across northern Scotland.
The work will also see faster internet connections brought to the islands just off the Scottish coast including the Orkney Islands.
Staff from the firm will conduct detailed marine route surveys and supply the cables during the construction.
They were given the contact alongside French firm Orange Marine and Hampshire-based A-2-Sea Solutions.
