A PERSON who was near the scene of a domestic assault in Chelmsford is being sought by police.

Officers were called to a layby in Princes Road at about 10pm on Thursday after a man and woman were heard arguing.

Michael Davis, 20, of Stocks Lane, Kelvedon Hatch, was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

As part of their investigations officers are looking to locate a potential witness seen walking past the scene of the incident.

This person or anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Jim Nash at Chelmsford police station on 101.

Davis has been bailed until Janaury 15 when he is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.
