A CHILDREN’S soft play centre, costing more than £100,000, has been opened by an entrepreneur in Chelmsford.

Rocky’s Fun House opened its doors to youngsters in Rainsford Road with ball ponds, climbing frames and slides all ready to use.

With centres already based in Brentwood, Billericay and Hornchurch, business owner Richard Hughes bought the property seven weeks ago.

Since then he has worked overnight to get the venue ready and open with four full-time jobs and several part-time roles created.

Mr Hughes said: “I have invested about £100,000 into the site.

“I would also like to thank my many friends and family who have always been with me, working through the night to get the site ready, and for supporting me through the tough times.

“I love my job and I am very lucky.”

The centre is split into two areas with one part especially for children aged under two years and the other for older kids.

A space for parents to sit and watch their children is also provided which includes a Starbucks and cafe.

At weekends the venue will be exclusively open just for private parties.

Sessions at the venue cost £2.50 for under 2s and £4 for over 2s with a monthly pass also available for £12.
