RESIDENTS of a sheltered housing scheme have received thankyou letters from soldiers serving in Afghanistan for care packages they sent out.
Elderly people living in Glovershotts, Broomfield, collected items such as sweets, puzzle books, biscuits, socks and soaps before posting them to Camp Bastion.
After sending out 200 packages, the residents of the scheme run by housing association Chelmer Housing Partnership have received letters back from soldiers personally thanking them.
Mo Ivemey, who helps organise the collections, said: "I love receiving the letters and we get lots back from both men and women serving on the front line, they are all really grateful for everything that we send them."
